Top Nine Sports Movie Actresses

By Jack Maxwell

When it comes to sports movies, guys are pretty easy to please. Simply cast an actor who can pass as an athlete (which is why I don't consider Summer Catch a sports movie. Freddie Prinze Jr? Really?). Then couple him with a beautiful leading lady. This second part is trickier than it sounds. If you're not careful, you can very easily end up with Hillary Swank (pre-Oscars) as The Next Karate Kid.

  • GOLDIE HAWN - WILDCATS
Yeah, we want to see her daughter in the remake of this classic, too. Seems like a long shot, but keep your fingers crossed just in case.
  • JULIE BOWEN - HAPPY GILMORE
To be honest, the 1996 version of Julie Bowen doesn't necessarily knock anybody's socks off. But the 2010 Julie Bowen certainly does, which is why she made this list. Hey, it's my list; I can bend the rules.
  • KATHY IRELAND - NECESSARY ROUGHNESS
A Sports Illustrated swimsuit model in football pads ... enough said.
  • CAMERON DIAZ - ANY GIVEN SUNDAY
There are few things more impressive than a powerful woman in sports.
  • LESLIE BIBB - TALLADEGA NIGHTS
"If we wanted two wussies, we would have named them Dr. Quinn and Medicine Woman!" Classic line from a not-so-classy lady.
  • COURTENEY COX - THE LONGEST YARD
    See photo.
  • SUSAN SARANDON - BULL DURHAM
In all seriousness, Susan Sarandon as Annie Savoy made me a better baseball player. After seeing Bull Durham, I worked even harder on my game with hopes of one day meeting my own Annie Savoy. Spoiler: It never happened.
  • CINDY MORGAN - CADDYSHACK
For men my age, it doesn't get any better than Cindy Morgan and Lacey Underall. It's also nice to see that she has aged well.
  • MARISA TOMEI - THE WRESTLER
Does this woman age? At 44 years old, she looks just as good as when she played Mona Lisa Vito in My Cousin Vinny at age 28.
