Yankees legends sing 'Take Me Out to the Ballgame' on this day in 1958
On this day in 1958, four Yankees stars - Whitey Ford, Yogi Berra, Mickey Mantle and Bill Skowron - appeared on the 'Ed Sullivan Show' to strut their vocal stuff by singing the Jack Norworth classic, "Take Me Out to the Ballgame."
The Yankees were in the midst of one of the winningest World Series streaks in baseball history, with five championships in seven seasons between 1950 and 1956, before they went on to win a sixth in 1958.
During the players' appearance on the show, Berra took a moment to deliver a well-wish to Brooklyn Dodgers catcher Roy Campanella, who had just suffered a career-ending neck injury as a result of a car accident.
Yogi, Whitey and Mick all made their way to the Hall of Fame after their playing careers had ended, and Skowron was a five-time All-Star during his Yankees career, so the live audience in attendance that day were treated to music from some of the best ballplayers of all time.
