Michael Pineda back on the mound as Yankees visit Nationals today
Michael Pineda will be on the mound, coming off an outing on Wednesday where he threw five perfect innings with eight strikeouts against the Phillies. Chad Green will piggyback Pineda, with Ben Heller, Jonathan Holder, J.R. Graham and Jason Gurka also available, and the Yankees have Gio Gallegos and five minor-league call-ups - lefty Nestor Cortes and righties Matt Marsh, Travis Hissong, Andrew Schwaab, and Cale Coshow - on the trip and available if needed as well.
Heller, Gallegos, and Gurka all pitched behind Adam Warren and Luis Severino in yesterday's win over the Astros, so while they are listed, they may be lower priority on the pitching depth chart.
Here is today's lineup:
Brett Gardner CF
Aaron Hicks LF
Greg Bird 1B
Chase Headley 3B
Matt Holliday DH
Aaron Judge RF
Austin Romine C
Rob Refsnyder 2B
Ronald Torreyes SS
The scheduled reserves are catcher Kyle Higashioka, Donovan Solano at first, Ruben Tejada at second, Gleyber Torres as short, Pete Kozma at third, and an outfield of Tyler Wade, Dustin Fowler, and Billy McKinney from left to right. There is no second DH set, and the Yankees have catcher Wilkin Castillo, first baseman Ji-Man Choi, outfielder Clint Frazier, and two call-ups, catcher Radley Haddad and infielder Thairo Estrada, also on the bench if needed.
There is no other camp news to speak of today, as yesterday was an off day for the players who stayed behind in Tampa and today is a closed workout with no media access at Steinbrenner Field. The only note to pass along is that Chasen Shreve is headed to the minor-league complex today, and he will start the Class-A Advanced Tampa group's game against the Blue Jays' Class-A Advanced Dunedin group.
