Yankees reliever Shawn Kelley has done it, team executive Jennifer Steinbrenner Swindal has done it, and now, The Captain has accepted the challenge.

The Ice Bucket Challenge for ALS awareness, that is, as Derek Jeter accepted nominations from Swindal, Roger Clemens and actor Mickey Rourke by having a Gatorade bucket full of ice water dumped over his head in the name of charity.

The challenge has become a social media phenomenon while also raising millions of dollars for ALS awareness and research, and in the Yankees clubhouse Tuesday, the current Yankees Captain saluted a former one by having pitchers CC Sabathia and Masahiro Tanaka give him perhaps the coldest shower of his career.

The Captain hugged his teammates (perhaps to share the chill?) after getting doused, and he challenged Hannah Davis, Kevin Connolly, and Michael Jordan to take the challenge, too.
