Yankees claim RHP Rogers off waivers, release infielder Scott Sizemore

Earlier today, the Yankees made the following roster moves:

Claimed RHP Esmil Rogers off waivers from the Toronto Blue Jays.

Unconditionally released INF Scott Sizemore.

Rogers, 28, posted a 6.97 ERA (20.2IP, 16ER) without recording a decision in 16 relief appearances over two stints with the Blue Jays this season before being designated for assignment on July 27. He also saw time at Triple-A Buffalo, going 2-2 with a 3.14 ERA (48.2IP, 17ER) in 12 games (seven starts).

In 174 games (42 starts) over parts of six Major League seasons with Colorado (2009-12), Cleveland (2012) and Toronto (2013-14), Rogers is 16-21 with a 5.59 ERA (396.0IP, 246ER). The Santo Domingo, D.R., native was originally signed by the Colorado Rockies as a minor league free agent on July 10, 2003.
