Oakland Athletics general manager Billy Beane is back to his "Moneyball" ways.

The A's have sent cash considerations to the Milwaukee Brewers in exchange for left-handed pitcher Brad Mills. The amount of cash the Brewers will receive for Mills? A whopping $1.

The trade is not the first of its kind. It's somewhat common for players' contract to call for zero compensation if the player was put on another team's active 25-man roster. In the case of Mills, he was actually traded for $1 more than his contract required.

With right-hander Drew Pomeranz nursing a broken hand sustained after punching a chair in frustration, Mills will be inserted right into the A's rotation. The left-handed hurler boasts a 1.56 ERA with 77 strikeouts in 75 innings in his time at Class AAA Nashville this season.
