Yankees prospect Refsnyder promoted to Triple-AThe second baseman put up tremendous numbers in Double-A Trenton
Monday, it was announced that RHP Shawn Kelley had his rehab assignment transferred to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. Kelley faced three batters as the starting pitcher in Saturday's game against Altoona and recorded two strikeouts and a walk on 19 pitches.
The Yankees have announced Tuesday that second baseman Rob Refsnyder has been transferred to Scranton. Refsnyder is tied for 4th in the Eastern League in batting average (.342), T-2nd in hits (78), T-1st doubles (19), T-2nd in triples (5), T-2nd in extra-base hits (30), 5th in Slugging Percentage (.548) and 4th in total bases (125).
Since May 8th, the University of Arizona product has appeared in 28 games for the Thunder and leads Minor League Baeball with a .430 AVG (49-for-114) in that time with 20 of his 49 hits going for extra bases (13 2B, 4 3B, 3 HR). Specifically within his last 16 games, Refsnyder has 14 multi-hit games and is batting .493 (34-for-69).
Refsnyder is coming off an Eastern League Player-of-the-Week award for the week of May 26-June 1 with a .500 AVG (14-for-28) with 4 2B, 2 3B, HR, 7 RBI, 7 R, 2 BB and a .964 slugging percentage in seven games.
With Refsnyder being removed from the Thunder active roster, RHP Jairo Heredia has been transferred to Trenton to take his place.
The Thunder active roster stands at an Eastern League maximum 25 players.
