Jeter honored before Yankees' Grapefruit finale rained out

Captain receives key to the city of Tampa during his final day at Steinbrenner Field

And just like that, Derek Jeter's final spring training is over.

Inclement weather in Tampa caused the cancellation of the Yankees' final scheduled Grapefruit League game against the Marlins on Saturday afternoon, with the announcement being made shortly after the scheduled 1:05 p.m. first pitch. The Yankees will finish the spring 17-12-2 in the Grapefruit League and 18-12-2 overall, with two rainouts also on the register.

There was no game, but the Yankees did get one piece of business in: honoring their Captain for 20 years of service. A quartet of children from the Tampa area made a presentation to Jeter on the field just before the cancellation, giving him a key to the city as a token of appreciation, and you can see that brief exchange in the video below.
