Background: Dean Anna is a 27-year old infielder in the Yankees organization. Anna hits from the left side, can play multiple infield positions, and is being given a chance this spring to prove himself worthy of a spot on the Yankees roster as a reserve infielder. In six seasons in the minor leagues, Anna is a career .286 hitter.

2013 Season: Anna was in the San Diego Padres system last season and hit .331 with 73 RBIs for Triple-A Tucson. He split his time almost evenly between shortstop and second base.

Greatest Strength: Besides his success in the minors, Anna has also been good this spring in pinstripes. He's hit .316 in his first 19 at-bats this spring and has impressed the Yankees coaching staff. The good news for Anna is also that the Yankee infield has a lot of question marks going into this season-and Anna can play multiple positions.

Greatest Weakness: His lack of experience will hurt him, simply because he is competing with guys like Scott Sizemore and Eduardo Nuñez, who both have experience against big league pitching.

Prediction: Anna should be happy with his performance this spring, and it's become clear that the Yankees stole a nice player from San Diego. Anna will most likely start the season in the minors, but injuries may allow him to make his major league debut at some point in 2014 -- especially if Brian Roberts' health problems continue to be an issue.
