Gardner, Cone honored at Munson Awards

Over 34 years, the Thurman Munson Awards Dinner has raised more than $12 million for programs in the New York City area. The awards are given to athletes who demonstrate success not only on the field of play, but in their philanthropic efforts, as well. Among those honored last night, were New York Yankees outfielder Brett Gardner and former Yankees ace and current YES Network broadcaster David Cone. Diana Munson referred to Gardner as, "one of the most community minded players in the major leagues." And David Cone, who was clearly humbled by his award, commended the other honorees on their philanthropic efforts.
In addition to the athletes honored, Diana Munson and AHRC NYC presented "Corporate Hero" awards to Nicholas S. Schorsch (Chairman & CEO of American Realty Capital Properties) & William M. Kahane (CEO of RCS Capital) for their extraordinary philanthropic efforts. Living up to the honor, upon receiving their awards Nicholas & William announced they were donating an additional $200,000.
