David Cone, Michael Kay and Joe Girardi were all on hand for the Yankees-USO event at the Stadium.
The New York Yankees hosted approximately 150 volunteers on Thursday to help assemble more than 5,000 USO Big Apple Packs for active servicemen and servicewomen overseas. Among the large number of volunteers on hand were members of the Yankees front office, as well as representatives from USO, PepsiCo, FedEx, ESPN and Disney. Yankees manager Joe Girardi and YES broadcasters Michael Kay and David Cone were also in attendance helping the cause.

Members of the USO kicked off the event with a beautiful rendition of the National Anthem, followed by Girardi addressing the crowd to thank everyone for their efforts." I think it's important we continue to show support to our soldiers," he said.

"It's going to such a great cause, to those who are defending our freedom and our country," said Cone. "It's such a great event that grows every year, this means a lot and I look forward to being here every year."

USO volunteer Elinore Chechak commented on how it was fitting to have the event in the Great Hall at Yankee Stadium, "I love coming here and I thank the Yankees for making this space available, it's really a pleasure."
