New York Islanders fans excited for team’s future move to Barclays Center
The 2013-14 NHL season is underway, meaning New York Islanders fans are one season closer to cheering for their team at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center.
The Islanders will be relocating as of the 2015-16 season, leaving the Nassau Coliseum – which they’ve called home since joining the NHL in 1972 – and moving about 25 miles west to share the Barclays Center with the Brooklyn Nets.
Like the Coliseum, Barclays Center will seat nearly 16,000 fans for hockey games, but its location is much more convenient for fans who travel to games via public transportation, with 11 subway lines, 11 bus lines, and the Long Island Railroad right across the street.
Even though it’s still roughly two years away, Islanders fans are already excited about the move – and in the video above, you can see that excitement courtesy of some of the fans who caught the Isles-Devils preseason game at Barclays last month.
