As mentioned yesterday, there were many great farewell moments leading up to his September goodbye ceremony at Yankee Stadium, but Mariano Rivera's 13th and final appearance in the All-Star Game truly was his one last signature moment on the national stage.

After guaranteeing Rivera would pitch, AL manager Jim Leyland took no chances with a 3-0 lead in the eighth and brought Mo in for the penultimate inning. However, as Metallica's "Enter Sandman" blared over the PA at Citi Field, a funny thing happened: Rivera jogged out onto an empty field.

Yielding the floor to the Greatest of All-Time, both All-Star squads stayed in their dugouts and joined in the standing ovation Mo received from the capacity crowd as he jogged in from the bullpen. An overwhelmed Rivera tipped his cap as he reached the mound -- a moment he later said almost made him cry -- and then thanked his hosts by mowing down the side in order and taking home the game's MVP Award.
