A strange 10-day journey for infielder Adam Rosales has him right back where he started: in an Oakland uniform.

Thursday night, the Oakland Athletics re-acquired Rosales by claiming him off waivers from the Texas Rangers, bringing back a player that they let go less than two weeks earlier.

Rosales hit .193 with four home runs and eight RBI in 50 games for Oakland earlier this season before being designated for assignment on July 31. He was claimed off waivers by Texas on August 2, but never appeared in a game before being designated for assignment again on Monday and getting re-claimed by the Athletics.

The 30-year-old is a career .220 hitter over parts of six Major League seasons with Cincinnati and Oakland, and has played all four infield positions (as well as left field) since joining the Athletics in 2010.

Entering play Friday, the A's and Rangers were in a virtual tie for first place in the AL West, as Texas has won four in a row and nine of 10 to erase what was a six-game deficit.
