Yankees promote Gary Sanchez and Diego Moreno to Double-A
Sanchez, 20, was labeled as the 49th-best prospect in all of baseball by ESPN's Keith Law on his midseason Top 50 rankings list. The native of Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic played in 93 games with Tampa this season, batting .254 with 13 home runs and 61 RBI. He signed for $3 million at the age of 16 years old, at the time a record signing bonus for a non-Cuban international player.
Moreno was acquired from the Pirates as part of a trade for pitcher A.J. Burnett in February 2012, but had Tommy John surgery before last season and missed over one year of action. The 27-year-old has pitched in 18 games for Tampa this season, going 2-4 with a 4.88 ERA.
Tracy, rated as the 26th-best prospect in the Yankees system before the season by Baseball America, pitched three innings on Thursday against Harrisburg after returning from a seven-week stint on the DL with the same injury.
