McCarron later Tweeted that Granderson confirmed he would be with the T-Yanks through the weekend and “then see what’s next.”
The move would officially begin a rehab assignment for Granderson, who has been sidelined since breaking his left pinkie finger on May 25; Nix, meanwhile, would be moving up on his, as he began his rehab with the GCL Yankees 1 squad on Wednesday, playing five innings at third base in his first game action since going on the DL with a strained hamstring on July 3.
Both men had been taking simulated at-bats at the team’s complex in Tampa of late, with Nix officially beginning his rehab assignment there on Wednesday.
Granderson, who missed the first six weeks of the season while recovering from a fractured forearm suffered in Spring Training, was 7-for-28 with one home run in eight games with the Yankees in May, while Nix has posted a .236-2-20 line with 11 stolen bases in 73 games this season.
