Rodriguez to join RailRiders on Thursday

Third baseman's rehabilitation will step up to Triple-A this week

Moosic, Pa. -- There was plenty of fun and excitement planned at PNC Field for the upcoming eight-game homestand beginning on Thursday, July 16, but things just got even more exciting for the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders (Triple-A/New York Yankees). Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez has announced he will be joining the RailRiders on Thursday to continue his rehab assignment in SWB's 7:05 p.m. matchup with the Louisville Bats (Cincinnati Reds).

Rodriguez has slammed 647 career home runs in his 19-year Major League career, which is the most among all active players, and fifth all-time. He also has amassed 2,901 career hits, 1,950 runs batted in, and 512 doubles. The three-time Most Valuable Player has also posted a career .300 batting average. Rodriguez has been selected to 14 All-Star games during his career with the Yankees, Texas Rangers, and Seattle Mariners.

The game will be broadcast live locally on My Network TV with John Sadak handling the play-by-play with Bob Ide of FOX56, who will serve as the TV game's color commentator. Andrew Kappes will have the radio call on NEPA Sports Radio - The GAME, NEPA's largest sports radio network: 100.7 FM, 1340 WYCK-AM, 1400 WICK-AM, 1440 WCDL-AM and 106.7 FM.
