To make room on the 25-man and 40-man rosters for Derek Jeter, the Yankees have designated first baseman Travis Ishikawa for assignment.

Ishikawa was claimed off waivers from Baltimore on Sunday and saw his only action in pinstripes on Monday, starting at first base and going 0-for-2 with two strikeouts before being lifted for pinch-hitter Lyle Overbay.

In seven total Major League games this season with the Orioles and Yankees, Ishikawa is 2-for-19 (.105) with one RBI and one walk.
