The New York Yankees organization has released third baseman Josh Bell, who had been playing at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

The move was made to accommodate the arrival of infielder David Adams, who was optioned to the RailRiders on Monday when Travis Ishikawa was signed by the Yankees.

Bell, 26, started the year in the White Sox organization at Triple-A Charlotte, but he was released in early May and signed with the Yankees on May 17. He joined Scranton's roster the next day and hit .205 with five home runs and 17 RBI in 37 games, and he has a .226-5-21 line in 52 overall games at the Triple-A level this season.
