The San Francisco Giants have agreed to a Minor League deal with free agent outfielder Jeff Francoeur, as first reported by FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal, and he will report to Triple-A Fresno.

Francoeur, 29, was designated for assignment by the Kansas City Royals earlier this month and released after he cleared waivers.

In 2011, Francoeur hit .285 for with 20 home runs and 87 RBI, a line that was good enough to earn him a two-year, $13.5 million contract extension from Kansas City - but after that strong season, he hit just .235 with 16 homers and 49 RBI in 2012, and had a .208-3-13 line in 59 games (183 at-bats) with the Royals this season before being designated for assignment.

Financial terms were not disclosed, but Kansas City remains on the hook for the majority of the roughly $3.2 million remaining on Francoeur's contract, minus whatever he is paid by the Giants.
