Kevin Youkilis and Mark Teixeira began their rehab assignments at Double-A Trenton on Wednesday, starting at their usual corners and hitting third and fourth respectively in the Thunder's 3-1 win over Erie Wednesday morning.

Both men went 0-for-2 with a walk in their rehab debuts, with each leaving the game after the seventh inning with Trenton leading by that 3-1 margin. Defensively, Youkilis recorded just one chance at third base, snaring a Zach Maggard liner in the third, while Teixeira never fielded a ball but recorded five putouts at first base.

In a postgame press conference, Yankees general manager Brian Cashman said that barring a setback, the team expects Youkilis and Teixeira to play one more game in Trenton on Thursday before being activated for the Red Sox series on Friday.

Youkilis and Teixeira also met the media following the game; you can check out video of that press conference below, courtesy of Hunterdon County Democrat Thunder beat writer Mike Ashmore, and Ashmore has video of their rehab debuts at his Thunder Thoughts Blog.
