NFL considering moving draft to May
Traditionally held in late April, moving the draft to May would extend the league's year round calendar of public events.
The NFL and NFL Player's Association have been discussing ways to bolster the league's toehold on year-round coverage. By pushing the draft back a few weeks, the NFL could establish a more consistent chain of events during its offseason.
Formally moving the start of the league calendar to mid-March -- including moving the Player's Combine from February to mid-March -- is also being considered.
Some players have expressed concern about the changing calendar dates affecting play on the field but the NFL insists it will accommodate for any potential football problems caused by the new calendar.
