New York Yankees donate tickets to Children's Hospital at Montefiore
NEW YORK -- The Children's Hospital at Montefiore (CHAM) is hitting a home run thanks to the support of the New York Yankees, who have donated tickets and suites to help raise money for The J.E. and Z.B. Butler Child Advocacy Center. Now in its 20th year, this event has raised more than $800,000 to help fund the Child Advocacy Center, which provides emergency care and support to young victims of abuse or neglect and offers counseling to their families.
This year's event will be hosted during the game against the Houston Astros on Monday, April 29. Montefiore associates, family members and friends, as well as others looking to support CHAM will be on hand to cheer for the Bronx Bombers. As a special treat, members of CHAM's leadership will participate in a pre-game, on-field ceremony highlighting the Child Advocacy Center's important work. A small number of tickets are still available by calling 718-920-6656. Those unable to attend the game can still support the Child Advocacy Center by making a donation here.
"Every year, Montefiore recognizes the important work of our Butler Child Advocacy Center with a baseball celebration made possible by the generous support of the Yankees," said Steven M. Safyer, M.D., president and chief executive officer, Montefiore Medical Center. "Montefiore is proud to stand with the great institution of the Yankees. Together, our efforts will improve the health and well-being of children and their families."
Founded in 1984, the Child Advocacy Center has treated more than 16,000 children and teens in need of help through a holistic approach that involves doctors, nurses, social workers and other professionals. In an effort to offer a sense of security and comfort to the children, compassionate and comprehensive care is provided within a single setting. Mental health services also are provided in the new Child Advocacy Prevention Services facility. The overarching goal of the Child Advocacy Center is to end violence against children by teaching awareness, prevention and treatment of child abuse to healthcare providers, social service professionals and the community at large.
