03/02/2013 4:28 PM ET
Boone Logan, who has yet to appear for the New York Yankees in a Spring Training game, will be shut down for what Joe Girardi said will be "a few days" with a sore left elbow. The lefty reliever skipped Saturday's scheduled simulated game and underwent an MRI, which came back clean. Logan comes off a season in which he made a league-leading and career high 80 appearances.
Other injury updates from Tampa:
Phil Hughes will play catch on Sunday, the first time he'll be picking up a baseball since suffering a bulging disc in his back during workouts.
Slade Heathcott has a sprained right thumb and also had an MRI, which showed no significant damage. The injury occured when Heathcott ran into Ronnier Mustelier in the outfield on Thursday.
