
Report: Scott Hairston to sign with Cubs

Last season with the New York Mets, Hairston batted .263 with a career-high 20 home runs, 57 RBIs and a .803 OPS in 398 plate appearances. Against left-handers, Hairston is career .276 hitter with an .825 OPS.

Currently, the Yankees are starting three lefty batters in the outfield: Brett Gardner, Curtis Granderson and Ichiro Suzuki. The team signed righties Matt Diaz and Russ Cantzler to Minor League deals, and the two are expected to compete for the fourth outfielder's role.
