12/21/2012 2:43 PM ET
The New York Yankees announced Friday that RHP Jim Miller, who was designated for assignment on Wednesday to clear a roster spot for Ichiro Suzuki, has cleared waivers and been outrighted to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
Miller, 30, was claimed off waivers from Oakland on Nov. 30, the same day the Yankees re-signed Mariano Rivera. Miller was with the Athletics in four different stints last year, going 2-1 with a 2.59 ERA in 33 appearances overall and holding left-handed hitters to a .136 average.
For his career, Miller, who made his Major League debut in 2008, is 2-3 with a 2.42 ERA and one save in 47 games with Baltimore, Colorado, and Oakland.
