12/19/2012 2:25 PM ET
The New York Yankees announced Tuesday that LHP Josh Spence has cleared waivers, and has been outrighted to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
Spence, 24, was claimed off waivers from San Diego on Nov. 6, but then designated for assignment on Dec. 14 when the Yankees officially signed Kevin Youkilis.
The Australian lefty made 11 appearances out of the Padres’ bullpen in 2012, going 0-1 with a 4.35 ERA, and he is 0-3 with a 3.15 ERA in 51 career appearances with San Diego.
