Yankees announce 2013 spring schedule
The New York Yankees today announced the club’s 2013 spring training schedule, featuring a total of 33 spring training games with 17 home games at George M. Steinbrenner Field.
The Yankees will play their first spring game on February 23 at 1:05 p.m. against Atlanta at Champion Stadium in Lake Buena Vista. The Yankees will host their first Major League spring home game the next day, February 24 at 1:05 p.m. vs. Toronto.

In addition to 16 Grapefruit League games, the Yankees will also play host to the Dominican Republic World Baseball Classic team on Wednesday, March 6 at Steinbrenner Field.
Home opponents include each of the Yankees’ four American League East rivals – Tampa Bay (March 24 at 1:05 p.m.), Boston (March 20 at 1:05 p.m.), Toronto (February 24 at 1:05 p.m. and February 28 at 1:05 p.m.) and Baltimore (March 27 at 1:05 p.m.). The schedule also features four home night games (7:05 p.m. start time): Atlanta on Tuesday, March 5; Philadelphia on Wednesday, March 13; Minnesota on Thursday, March 21 and new American League opponent Houston on March 26.
The Yankees will also host 2012 National League runner-up St. Louis on Monday, March 11, in the Cardinals’ first visit to Tampa since 2006. The Miami Marlins will make their first trip to Tampa since 2005 with a 1:05 p.m. game on Friday, March 15.

This will be the Yankees’ 18th spring training at George M. Steinbrenner Field in Tampa. The complex was renamed for the Yankees’ longtime Principal Owner on March 27, 2008, following two unanimous resolutions supporting the change issued by the Hillsborough County Commission and the Tampa City Council. The resolutions cited Mr. Steinbrenner’s many charitable donations to youth activities, hospitals and the arts, and recognized his numerous extraordinary contributions to the area.
