Brooklyn Nets forward Gerald Wallace has been fined $5,000 by the NBA for his second violation of the league’s anti-flopping edict, becoming the second player – and second Net – to have his paycheck docked this season.

According to the league, the flopping incident occurred in the final minute of the third quarter of the Nets’ loss in Miami on Saturday; while defending LeBron James, Wallace exaggerated contact and fell to the floor in an attempt to draw an offensive foul, a play that was instead ruled as a personal foul on Wallace and led to a pair of free throws for James.

“Crash” was previously warned by the league for a perceived flop in the waning seconds of Brooklyn’s overtime win against the Knicks on Nov. 26.

Under the new rules, players will get a warning the first time they are cited for flopping, then be fined $5,000 for a second violation. The fines increase to $10,000 for a third offense, $15,000 for a fourth and $30,000 the fifth time, and six or more could lead to a suspension from the league.

So far this season, a total of seven players have received a flopping warning from the NBA, but only Wallace and teammate Reggie Evans have been slapped with a second offense and a fine as of Wednesday.
