Cashman to rappel down CT building
Yankees GM to take part in Stamford's Heights & Lights celebrationOn Sunday evening, the Yankees General Manager will join Santa Claus and a handful of others, including former Red Sox manager Bobby Valentine, in rappelling down the 22-story Landmark Building in downtown Stamford, Conn., as part of the city’s annual holiday “Heights & Lights” celebration.
Cashman has been part of the celebration, which sees Santa and others rappel down the building before traveling to light the city’s Christmas tree, since 2010. Last year, he publicly laid down the gauntlet for Valentine, a Stamford native who is also the city’s Director of Public Safety, to join him in 2012 – and, perhaps because the 2011 practice rappel and challenge came on the same day he was introduced as Red Sox skipper, Bobby V accepted.
On Friday, Cashman, Valentine, and FOX News Channel meteorologist Rick Reichmuth will make a practice voyage that you can see live on your television, as their descent will be broadcast during the “FOX & Friends” morning newscast on FNC from 6-9 a.m. And, for those wishing to be on hand for Cashman’s Heights & Lights rappel, the event begins at 5 p.m. Sunday in Landmark Square in downtown Stamford.
