The Brooklyn Nets had a brief taste of life without Deron Williams on Friday when the team announced their floor general received an injection for left ankle synovitis (an inflamed tissue). Williams will miss two days of practice, but will return next week according to head coach Avery Johnson.

In Williams' absence, C.J. Watson ran the Nets' first team.

"Deron has been having some ankle tendinitis so this morning he had an injection," Johnson told reporters after Friday's practice. "We don't think it's anything serious, just a case of the tendinitis, so he'll be out tomorrow for practice, but we anticipate having him back Sunday or Monday."

A free agent this past summer, Willams agreed to stay with the Nets for $98.7 over five years instead of returning home to Dallas. He was joined on the sidelines by Josh Childress (ankle), Keith Bogans (sore right knee) and Andray Blatche (flu).
