Jets waive WR Turner, sign LB Sapp
FLORHAM PARK, N.J. (AP) -- The Jets have waived wide receiver Patrick Turner, and signed linebacker Ricky Sapp to the practice squad.
The Jets also released cornerback LeQuan Lewis from the practice squad Tuesday.
Turner, a former college teammate of quarterback Mark Sanchez at Southern California, had 10 catches for 122 yards and a touchdown in 21 games over two-plus seasons for the Jets. There's a chance New York could re-sign him if he passes through waivers.
He left the season-opening win over Buffalo on Sunday with a hamstring injury. Turner, a third-round draft pick of Miami in 2009, got a lot of work in the preseason because of injuries at the wide receiver position.
Sapp, who was with the team last season, was released from the Jets' practice squad last week.
