Yankees recall McGehee from Charleston
McGehee was optioned to Charleston on August 28 when Steve Pearce was activated, and he hit .360 with eight RBI in seven games with the RiverDogs. He had hit .186 with a homer and six RBI in 47 August at-bats with the Yankees, and has posted a .224-9-41 line in 105 games overall with Pittsburgh and the Yankees.
By optioning McGehee to Charleston, the Yankees were able to bring him back before the mandatory 10-day waiting period for players optioned to the Minors expired; the RiverDogs’ season ended on Monday, and a clause in the MLB rules that allows players to return if their affiliate’s season ends made McGehee eligible to be recalled on Tuesday.
