Mets will bring up Valdespin, Mejia, others
ST. LOUIS (AP) -- The New York Mets plan to bring up infielder Jordany Valdespin and relievers Elvis Ramirez, Jeurys Familla and Jenrry Mejia from Triple-A before Tuesday night's game.
The Mets also will add left-hander Justin Hampson and outfielder Fred Lewis in time for the game against the Cardinals.
Catcher Rob Johnson and left-handed reliever Tim Byrdak will go the 60-day disabled list to make room for Hampson and Lewis.
Valdespin was up for 75 games with the Mets earlier this year and hit .242 with eight home runs and 26 RBIs. Hampson was briefly with New York this season, appearing in three games.
Lewis was in the majors with Cincinnati last season.
