NEW YORK -- Derek Jeter's fifth-inning home run off Franklin Morales on Friday night at Yankee Stadium was the 250th of the Yankees Captain's storied career, tying Graig Nettles for ninth place on the franchise's all-time list. In the process, Jeter extended his hitting streak to 13 games and took over the league lead in hits with 160.

The hit streak is his 45th career single-season run of at least 10 games, tops in team history and fourth all-time in the Majors since 1903.

If one were to bring any of that up to Jeter, he'd brush it off and remind you that the homer tied the game at 4 after the Yankees coughed up an early 3-0 lead. If he does pay attention to stats, his favorite would be the fact he's the 10th Yankee with 10 or more homers this season, which ties the franchise record set by the 1998 Yankees and is one below the 2004 Detroit Tigers.

Still, it's something he knew about going in. Nick Swisher was bragging about recently joining the 200 home run club and how's he's catching up. The ball was retrieved from the crowd and given to him, set to take its place with the other milestone baseballs.

"I always hear all the time I don't hit home runs, but in my mind there's a lot of them," Jeter said after the game. "It's something I'm happy with. I try to be consistent each and every year, and do my job. Like I've always said if you do it long enough good things happen."

According to STATS LLC., Jeter becomes just the fourth player in Major League history with at least 3,000 hits, 300 stolen bases and 250 home runs. He joins Rickey Henderson, Willie Mays and Craig Biggio.

"He's an amazing player" said Joe Girardi. "When you think about what he's done, throughout his career, he's 38 years old, he's played 15 days in a row. There are not too many 38-year-old guys who play 15 days in a row and continue to be productive. And that's a big home run. It was supposed to rain all night. We're down 4-3, he hits a big home run and ties the game up, and then we tack on one the next inning and then another one. He's an amazing player."
