Devils fan gives Parise a sparkling farewell
A Devils fan recorded himself taking a Fourth of July sparkler to Zach Parise's Devils jersey after it was announced on Wednesday that the Captain was signing a 13-year, $98 million contract with the Minnesota Wild.
The video records the fan saying, "Zach went back to Minnesota. Happy Fourth of July. Hope you enjoy the lakes and your time there. Bye Zach!" before Parise's jersey combusted into a giant flame.
Parise, who grew up in the Twin Cities, is leaving behind a seven-year career with the Devils, during which he scored 194 goals with 216 assists in 503 games. Last month, Parise and the Devils played in the Stanley Cup Finals, losing to the Kings in six games.
The Wild also signed free-agent defenseman Ryan Suter, who just ended his seven-year career with the Nashville Predators.
For Devils fans, it seems that the bridges have been "burned" for Parise.
