Rangers trade Dupuis to Thrashers
The Atlanta Thrashers on Tuesday acquired the left wing from the New York Rangers for right wing Alex Bourret.
One of the busiest teams at this season's NHL trade deadline, the Thrashers also received a 2007 third-round pick in the deal.
The trade came less than three weeks after the 27-year-old Dupuis was obtained by New York from the Minnesota Wild. He has 11 goals and three assists in 54 games with the Wild and Rangers this season.
A Quebec native, Dupuis has 68 goals and 74 assists in parts of six NHL seasons. He figures to provide an offensive boost for the Thrashers, who already had picked up four-time All-Star left wing Keith Tkachuk and defenseman Alexei Zhitnik over the last four days.
Bourret, 20, scored 11 goals and 32 assists in 45 games with Chicago of the American Hockey League this season. He was drafted 16th overall by the Thrashers in 2005.
